Safranbolu has a beautiful nature along wiht its history and houses. However the perfection of the traditional Turkish houses of Safranbolu whish turns the city in a open museum makes the natural beauty less important. Natural beauties of Safranbolu consist of forests, pasturages, canyons and cavers.

Different attitudes create variety in climate and plants while making the place perfect for nature sports. Dense forests and heights make formation of pasteurs possible. Geological formation of the area created deep and long canyons and several kms long caverns.

The area has two famous products. One of them is the safran plant which gave its name to the town. Safran can dye a fluid 100.000 times of its own weight and it is used as a spice and in chemical industry. The usable part of safran is the seeds of its flowers and it has a considerable financial value. Safranbolu is one of the rare place where safran plant is grown. Another famous product of Safranbolu is "safranbolu surgent grape"

Safranbolu is located at west of Black Sea Region of Türkiye 65 kms inland from the sea and its coordinates are 41 degree 76 minute northern latitude, 32 degree 4l minute eastern Iongitude. Safranbolu is town of Karabük Prowince which is only 8 kms away from the center of the city. It has been surrounded by Karabük (central town, Ovacık, Eflani), Bartın (Ulus) and Kastamonu (Araç). It is possible to reach the town from three different. 82 kms Iong road to Karabük coming from Ankara - Istanbul highway seperated at Gerede,  continues from here, for 8 kms and reachs Safranbolu. At the north of the town there is Bartın and at the east Kastamonu.  It is possible to reach Karabük city center by railways. Transportation by airways has not been established yet. There are hills and mountains where the town is Iocated. The lowest point is 300 meters and the highest point is 1750 meters high. The lowest point at the city center is 400 meters and the highest point 6110 meters high. The area of the town is 1013 square kms and big part of it is covered with forests.

Araç and Soğanlı brooks and Ovacuma creek are the branches of rivers which pass through the town. Other then those there are numeerous creeks which make up big canyons
although they do not have a lot of water. Geological formation of the town is interesting. Along with deep and long canyons there are big caves and setreams coming out of the caves on the slopes of the hills.
The center of the city is also located on an interesting geological formation. Tokatlı (Gümüş), Akçasu and Bulak rivers pass through the city forming three seperate canyons and they unite with Araç River. It is possible to see buildings as in Çarşı area built on the narrow sections of these canyons
